September 2005 –We now have an answering machine!

Call and leave us a message to renew your books, or just to find out what hours we’re open! Remember, you can return ANY materials you’ve checked out from the library in our drop box located in front of the library. When we are open, come in and browse the shelves for books, DVDs, CDs, videos, and magazines, or use our high-speed internet.

Want to really show support of our library? FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY

is an organization comprised of dedicated volunteers who assist the library in raising

funds for programs, as well as fulfilling other needs. The annual meeting and election of officers will be on Tuesday, September 6, 1:00 at the library. Libraries serve a vital function in your community…support them by becoming a FRIEND OF THE LIBRARY.

September 24 – October 1 is Banned Book Week. The freedom to read is essential to democracy. Come by the library and see our display regarding banned and challenged books…you may be surprised that it’s still happening.

Celebrate International Square Dancing Month and Self Improvement Month by coming to the Town Hall on Friday, September 23 at 7:30. Caller Dick Kurtz will return to help us pretend to square dance and have a fun night laughing at ourselves since we don’t!

August book rotation was mysteries. September’s rotation will be large print fiction. We probably have lots of books you may not have read! Let us entertain you!

A list of things you can do/help with/provide as a volunteer is posted on our Claremont bulletin board, located by the front door. Local information for Claremont residents is also available on the board. If you, or your organization, want to display a flyer, please bring it to at the front desk.

The library will be closed Saturday, September 3 and Monday, September 5.

The current library newsletter can be viewed, and old newsletters are archived on the town website www.claremont-va.org
