October 2005
It’ll be a spooky Halloween! Claremont Parks and
Recreation Department and the Claremont Fire Department, along with the
Claremont Library, will be sponsoring a Haunted House for Halloween! The basement of Town Hall
will host lots of fun, scary stuff, including a LIBRARY ROOM beyond your
wildest dreams! It will run October 26,
27, 28, 29, and 31 from 7:00 pm until 9:30pm.
Admission will be $1, and proceeds will benefit Katrina victims.
Admission on Halloween night, October 31, will be waived for a donation of
canned food or dry goods that will be donated to local families for
Thanksgiving.
Can’t find time to read??? October’s
rotation with other libraries is audio
books.
If you’ve never listened to a
book, you should try it! It makes commuting, or mindless tasks, much more bearable!
Kids love them, too, and we have a grand selection available.
A list of things you can
do/help with/provide as a volunteer is posted on our
Modern technology is
available!! Call and leave us a message to renew your books, or just to find out what
hours we’re open! Remember, you can return ANY materials you’ve checked
out from the library in our drop box located in front of the library. When we
are open, come
in and browse the shelves for books, DVDs, CDs, videos, and magazines, or use
our high-speed internet. You can read local newspapers, check out entertainment
for the kids, or ask the librarians what’s good to read this week!
If you have an MVP card at Food Lion, register at the
front desk, and Food Lion will donate to the Blackwater
Library System each time you buy groceries! It’s a painless way to support your
local libraries.
The library will be closed on
Monday, October 10, for an in-service meeting.
The current library newsletter
can be viewed, and old newsletters are archived on the town website www.claremont-va.org
