              Prepare to be scared.

From ghoulies and ghosties and long legged beasties

     and things that go bump in the night……….

        The third annual Haunted House, sponsored by the

          Claremont Parks and Rec Department and the Library,

     will take place at the Claremont Town Hall

      on October 26.27,29.30, and 31 between 7pm and 9pm.

       Volunteerism is encouraged and welcomed – proceeds

        benefit local charities, so it’s a good time for a good cause!

       ** StoryTime, for 3 and 4 year olds, will begin on October 9,

         and takes place each Tuesday at 9:30am. We read books, listen to music,

        learn American Sign Language, and kids receive a treat and activity pages.

    **  Banned Books Week celebrates our freedom to read. The theme

“Free People Read Freely will be the focus of our book club selections.

      3 of the most challenged books will be available for your pleasure…

        Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut, along with 2 Young Adult books,

        The Chocolate War by Robert Cormier, and Killing Mr. Griffin by Lois Duncan.

    **  The selection of 2 Young Adult books  coincides with

     Teen Read Week Oct 14 -2 0. Encourage your teen to read our

     book club books, or by suggesting books on subject matters of interest to

     them! It doesn’t matter WHAT they read, as long as they are reading!

     **  Second Saturday Program, October 13 at 11:00, put your creative

       talents to work  as we make props for the Haunted House.

          **  Needlework Club meets most Mondays at 5:30pm. Join us to learn new

   techniques, share your skills, or just enjoy the company of other crafters!

             **  The Town of Claremont is sponsoring  US Navy Riverine Squadron 3 that will be  

        stationed in Iraq soon. A list of items for their gift packs is available at the Library.

      Parks and Rec has provided a ‘drop box’ at the Library for your donations.

** All Blackwater Regional Libraries will be closed

Monday, October 8 for staff training.
