*The Town of
suggested items to donate is on the back of this newsletter.
We are collecting these patriotic contributions at the library. Donations are
also accepted for the families, especially for families who have newborns.
*StoryTime, for 3 and 4 year olds, will continue each Tuesday at 9:30AM. We read
books, listen to music, learn American Sign Language, and kids receive a treat
and activity pages. November 6 will be a special day – Deputy Shears of
the Surry County Sheriff’s Department will be our guest reader
*Second Saturday Program, November 10 at 11:00 - we will participate in the Veterans Day parade
and service at the circle. For information about the event, you may contact “Smitty” at 866-0139 or George Edwards at 866 -0139. Decorating
the float will take place before the event – please come to the library for
details. (Note to Veterans - please join
the parade! Note to everyone else - Show
your support by attending the parade and service at the circle!)
*Needlework Club will meet Mondays (except November
5) at 5:00. It’s a chance to learn, share, teach, or enjoy the company of
other crafters!
*Our library is
participating in a research survey from
*Children’s Book Week is November 12 – 17. The theme
“Rise Up Reading” encourages us all to celebrate books
for kids and to promote good reading habits!
*A copy of the Feasibility
Study of Library Space and Facility Needs conducted by Tymoff
& Moss is available at the library. They will present their recommendations
to the Surry Board of Supervisors on December 6.
*Important elections
will take place November 6. If you, or anyone you know, needs a ride
to the polls, please call Kay Vanatta at 866-0028 , or call the library for details.

Regional Libraries will be closed for Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 22 and
Friday, November 23.
