Birthdays
are always fun! Come to the library on Friday, March 2, to celebrate Dr.
Seuss’s birthday. He’d be 104 years old, but his books are ageless!
March is Women’s History Month. The library will feature a display on one of
We
are proud to say that we will continue featuring an exhibit from the Library of
Virginia about local sculptor Leslie Garland Bolling.
Bolling was born in Dendron
in 1898, and from 1925 – 1943, he produced more than 80 portrait busts and sculptures.
Please spend some time in our library learning more about this absolutely
remarkable Surry native!
The current library
newsletter can be viewed, and old newsletters are archived on the town’s
website www.claremont-va.org
Don’t forget that Wi-Fi is available here at the library! Use your laptops
inside, or sit outside any time of day or night, to have access to high-speed
internet! If you have questions about settings
or configuration, we have a brochure that will explain it all. If you don’t
have a laptop, you may use one
of our PCs that also have high-speed internet access during the hours
that we are open.
Remember that Daylight Savings Time starts
Sunday, March 11th. The library will open one hour later on Monday, March 12
(that's a joke, Folks!)
Programs
Second Saturday
Programs are for any school-aged child, and we will meet at the library March
10 at 11:00. We’ll be assisting the Claremont 2007 Commemoration Committee to
help make the town ready for May 5 and 6!
Crochet Club, for absolute novices as well as experienced crocheters, will meet Mondays at 5:00 throughout March. Virginia Gill will share her knowledge, and supplies are provided if you need them. Please call for details.
March Book Club celebrates Women’s History Month with a quick read called Cool Women. Featuring images from real life, fiction, and pop culture, Cool Women is the thinking woman's guide to the hippest ladies in history. The mix of profiles is eclectic and creative enough to capture everyone's interest, from Catwoman to Amelia Earhart to Cleopatra. Book Club is a venue for exploring new authors and different genres that you may not ordinarily read!
Story
Time, for 3 and 4 year olds,
is held on Tuesdays at 9:30 AM. Children learn American Sign Language,
listen to stories, sing songs, and receive
a snack and coloring pages
related to the day’s lesson.
