February 2008

The library has 2 very special events planned to celebrate Black History Month:

.

On February 16, from 10am until 12pm, author Paulette Pierce Holloway, a native

of Spring Grove, will be here to sell and sign copies of her book, Tea with God.

On February 23, we are sponsoring a REUNION for the newly restored

Claremont School! All staff, pupils, faculty, families, and friends are encouraged to attend!

Tours of the school will be offered between 6pm and 7pm. Join us for the program at

Town Hall, starting at 7pm, with refreshments and social time afterwards.

***************************************

*New magazines have arrived! Our selection continues to grow….check ‘em out!

The hottest one for young girls is “Disney Princess”, and Stardate will

have you peering into the night sky for astrological happenings!

*Needlework Club will meet Monday the 4th, 11th, and 25th at 5:00. It’s a chance to learn, share, teach, or enjoy the company of other crafters! It’s a good time!

*StoryTime, for 3 and 4 year olds, will continue Tuesdays (except February 12) at 9:30am.

We read books, listen to music, learn American Sign Language, and kids

receive a snack and activity pages.

*The Town of Claremont continues to sponsor US Navy Riverine Squadron 3. We are collecting these patriotic contributions at the library. Donations are also accepted for the families,

especially for families who have newborns.

*Book Club is offering a selection of books relating to the Presidents.  For a quick read, choose What Presidents are Made of by Hanoch Piven. Lives of the Presidents, by Kathleen Krull, will offer insight into the human side of our commanders in chief. Presidential Wives, by Paul Boller, Jr., is an anecdotal history of the women behind the men, and Presidential Diversions, also by Paul Boller, Jr., relates new aspects and hidden dimensions

in the lives of our presidents.

*All Blackwater Regional Libraries will be closed on Monday, February 18 for Presidents’ Day. Come view our display honoring many of our leaders. Don’t forget to vote February 12.
