December 2006

Wireless Internet is here! We have all the information you need to adapt your laptop to use our wireless connection. The signal is strong in the parking lot, so we don’t even have to be open for you to utilize it! Also, come by and check out our new

all-in-one computer from Gateway – it’s wonderful!

Please join us on Saturday, December 16, at 7:00 in the Town Hall, for our annual Holiday Sing-along! Patsy Rush will play keyboard for us to sing our favorite seasonal songs, and delicious refreshments will be served!

The Town Circle has electricity again! The circle will be decorated for the holidays, thanks to Parks and Rec and a few stalwart volunteers, and the long-awaited Grand Illumination will take place at 7:30pm on Friday, December 8th!

Holiday food donations are again being collected at Town Hall and at the library. Please bring any non-perishable food items to help make the holidays a bit more special for some families who may need some extra help.

If you are also a Surry Library patron, remember that the Surry Library Branch will be closed on Fridays.  The Claremont Library hours will stay the same.

All Blackwater Regional Libraries will be closed on Monday,

December 25; Tuesday, December 26; and Wednesday December 27.

We will also be closed Monday, January 1, and Tuesday, January 2.

Programs

Crochet Club, for absolute novices as well as experienced crocheters, will be on Mondays at 5:00. Virginia Gill teaches class, and supplies are provided if you need them.

December Book Club selection is The Shepherd, The Angel, and Walter the Christmas Miracle Dog by Dave Barry. It’s an absolutely charming book that is a quick read, you’ll enjoy, and hopefully will stir some wonderful memories, or just be an endearing story to treasure.

For Second Saturday Club, we’ll make some CD Santas! Second Saturday programs are for any school-aged child, and will begin this month at 11:00 AM on December 9.

Story Time, for 3 and 4 year olds, is held on Tuesdays at 9:30. Children learn American Sign Language, listen to great stories, and receive a treat for participation.

The annual Holiday Sing-Along will be at the Town Hall, Saturday, December 16th, at 7:00pm.
